SundaySchool_cannonclass

 

St. James offers Sunday School classes for all ages. Classes are available for men, women, couples, singles, and all children and youth. Classes between 9:35 and 10:15 am in various classrooms.

Children's Sunday School

We all meet together for Sunday School- ages 3K-5th grade. We use the Deep Blue Curriculum by Cokesbury. The fall series is "At Home with God". Children will explore families in the Bible, learn how today's faith families care for children as they grow, build loving relationships, and find out what it means to be part of God's family!

 

Youth Prayer Group
Upstairs in the Youth Room
Join the youth for prayer group and reflection on Sunday mornings during the Sunday School hour (9:30 a.m.)  The group is led by Verity Grupe.

 

Cannon Class
Room 110
This class consists of members age 50 and older and uses the lecture/discussion style of teaching with several class members facilitating the lessons using the David C. Cook International Bible Lessons. The class is named in honor and memory of Ralph Cannon, St. James’ first appointed pastor.

The Combined Classes of A.M. Smith* and Fellowship
Room 109
This group of lively, devoted mature adults ranging in age from 60 to 90+ is taught by a rotation of teachers who bring a variety of perspectives on God’s Word using the United Methodist lectionary materials in a discussion format.
Teachers: Barbara West, Ben Grizzard, and Dee Fullerton

*The A. M. Smith Class was the first Sunday School Class organized at St.. James and is named in honor and memory of Pastor Emeritas Adam Malachi Smith.

 

Covenant-Disciple Class
Room 123
This eclectic adult group selects contemporary materials to explore with teaching/leading responsibilities shared by a rotation team to facilitate the discussions.
Facilitators: Jim Rook, Skipper Brock, and Tim Britt

 

Faith Weavers Class
Room 100
A class that welcomes all from every walk and stage of life. Most are age 20-40-something.
The class discusses a variety of topics that concern them and their relationship with God, their families, and friends. They are a social group who enjoy time together outside the church when busy schedules allow.
Class discussions are led by a rotation of class members.

 

Upper Room Class
Room 101
A class for all ages with most being mid 60's and older.
Curriculum: Adult Bible Study Series
