The rhythm and routines of St. James UMC are brought to life by a team of dedicated volunteers.
There are many ways to use the gifts God has given you. We would love for you to join our team and use your unique gifts to help others connect with God. If you are ready to put your time and talents to use, we have a place for you on our team!

SERVE IN WORSHIP
Each week a number of dedicated volunteers lend their time and talent to help make our worship services run smoothly. They each perform vital roles in our weekly worship services.
- Serve Communion
- Serve as a liturgist
- Act as an usher
- Serve on the Altar Guild
- Serve as an acolyte
- Serve as Crucifer (cross-bearer)
- Set up for special services
- Serve on our digital media team
- Bring your smile and be a greeter

MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE
Many of our church members are involved in our music ministry. Some play instruments. Some are vocalists. Others are involved in the choir. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of St. James, using their talents and gifts to glorify God. Membership for most groups is open to anyone with a desire to sing.
- Sing in the Chancel Choir
- Sing with the choir for special performances
- Play a musical instrument during worship
- Sing or play with the The Gathering band

SUPPORT CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
At St. James UMC we are intentional about building intergenerational relationships, connecting different age groups and generations with each other. There are many opportunities throughout the year to help children, youth, and adults see the love of God at work in their lives. We are always looking for more volunteers to lead and assist groups around fellowship and spiritual growth.
- Teach a or adult Sunday School class
- Assist with Kid's Club on Sunday afternoons
- Assist with Vacation Bible School in the summer
- Donate supplies for Vacation Bible School
- Assist with UMYF on Sunday evenings
- Chaperone youth events or trips
- Lead a small group or Bible study group
- Coordinate Fellowship Club activities for senior adults
- Coordinate United Methodist Men or United Methodist Women activities

CARE FOR OUR VISITORS AND MEMBERS
At St. James we care for each other, visitors and members alike. Volunteers make a special point to provide prayer, love, and practical acts of support for one another.
- Serve as a greeter before worship services
- Contact inactive members
- Write handwritten notes to visitors
- Serve on the Bereavement Team
- Prepare a meal for Wednesday Night Meals
- Help with serving and cleaning up Wednesday Night Meals

MAINTAIN OUR FACILITY
Keeping the St. James campus clean, safe, and operational is important. Caring for our space allows us to better serve those attending St. James for worship and fellowship events. The Trustees and the facilities staff often need help with painting, cleaning, plumbing, electrical, and landscaping.
- Volunteer on congregational workdays
- Share expertise in minor plumbing
- Share expertise in minor electrical
- Share expertise in landscaping
- Help with sign maintenance
- Maintain the kitchen

ASSIST IN THE OFFICE
Helping in the St. James office serves by keeping the weekly activities running smoothly. Volunteers answer the phones, prepare mailings, and help with smaller projects in and around the office.

- Take bulk mailings to the post office
