Timmons-MarthaChildren/Youth Ministries
Rev. Martha Timmons

Martha Timmons is the Director of Children and Youth Ministries at St. James UMC. She was born in Goose Creek, SC, but as a preacher’s child, she has lived all over the state. She grew up in the church and felt her calling in high school. She is called into the ministries of working with students, education, and justice.

She attended Presbyterian College where she received a double degree in Religion and Christian Education with a minor in Christian Youth Work. She then attended Duke Divinity School where she received a Master of Divinity with an emphasis in Christian Education. She is an ordained minister in the South Carolina United Methodist Conference and serves in full connection in the conference.

She is married to Dr. Drew Timmons, who is a teacher at Chapman High School, Wofford College, and Upstate College. Drew teaches primarily English and at the college level he teaches in the Education Department. Martha and Drew stay busy not only with helping students live into their full potential, but with their daughter Elise.

She loves to work with students and to help them grow in their relationship with Christ. She also enjoys helping children and youth connect to ministries both in the church and in the world. As a Deacon, education and formation is a passion of hers. She wants to educate people about what it means to live into their faith and how to take what they learn in church and apply it to the world. She is also an advocate for social justice.
